News and events
There's always something happening at St Luke's Green. We'll keep this page updated with major events and items of interest, but if you’d like to be contacted directly with information about upcoming social events, please register if you haven't already!
We sat down with Daz Smith, Director of Dementia Excellence here at Greengate, to talk about his care approach for our residents living with Dementia. Daz has been with Greengate since December 2017, and in that time we have embraced a variety of changes to our care model and the way we train our village care teams. Here is what Daz had to say:
St Luke’s Green, Greengate’s first Brisbane Village, has won the prestigious nettletontribe Award for Design Excellence at the Property Council of Australia’s National Retirement Living Awards 2017, in recognition of its incorporation of innovation around a historic church.
Meet Paul, our Head Chef at St Luke’s Green, Woolloongabba. Paul is a valuable part of Greengate’s Brisbane team, and not just because he cooks some of the best cakes and meals we have ever tasted. He has recently returned from his eighth trip to Mongolia where he volunteers at an orphanage, teaching young people how to cook.
St Luke’s Green, Woolloongabba, home to Brisbane’s most vibrant seniors community, was officially opened and blessed on Sunday the 10th of September 2017. It was a beautiful morning and the sun was shining as residents of the Retirement Village and Aged Care Home, and members of the local community met on the Village Green for a day of celebration.
Spring is just around the corner, and this quarter’s Village Green is in bloom with all of the latest news from the Greengate Villages. A lot has been happening at our Retirement Villages and Boutique Aged Care Homes these past few months. As usual, our residents have been busy bees with plenty of social events and activities to attend. The Greengate team and residents are all looking forward to our upcoming events now that the weather is starting to warm up – hopefully we will see you there!
We had an amazing turnout for the re-opening of the stunning St Luke's Church. On the Feast of Corpus Christi, the church opened its doors for Mass. Residents from St Luke's Green and the local Brisbane community were all excited to get a first-hand look at the restored church - it's safe to say the church didn't disappoint! Not only was it a beautiful morning and ceremony, but it was fantastic to see everyone come together to "Venite Adoremus", which are the words written above the entrance to the church.
